New Beginnings: Wentworth Point High School Open Doors in 2025
As Wentworth Point continues its rapid growth, an exciting educational development is taking shape on the banks of the Parramatta River. Wentworth Point High School, led by Principal Melissa Johnston, is preparing to welcome its first Year 7 students in 2025.
“I am a proud public education principal,” shares Johnston, who is passionate about building the foundations of this new educational community. “I am excited to be establishing our school culture and identity from the ground up.”
The impressive six-story facility will serve families from Wentworth Point, Rhodes, Newington, and Sydney Olympic Park with modern infrastructure designed for 21st-century learning. Located in a densely populated peninsula, the school encourages sustainable transportation with ample bike parking for both students and staff.
What sets this comprehensive co-educational high school apart is its commitment to inclusivity. The campus features accessibility throughout, hearing augmentation, and dedicated support units alongside mainstream learning spaces. These thoughtfully designed environments will support diverse learning pathways and post-school options for all students.
Johnston emphasizes that high expectations will be central to the school’s ethos. “We are committed to developing the whole child and optimizing learning opportunities for diverse students,” she explains. This holistic approach will encompass student wellbeing programs, creative and performing arts, STEM initiatives, sports, and leadership opportunities.
The school plans to leverage its flexible learning spaces through structured transition programs and staff development with clear expectations for optimal teaching and learning outcomes. Families will have multiple avenues to engage with the school community, both on-site and online, including learning discussions, project showcases, and recognition events.
As construction continues and 2025 approaches, Principal Johnston looks forward to “building positive partnerships to enable students to reach their potential” in this vibrant waterfront educational setting.
